The Real Jesus

Jesus had a very interesting life. In fact He was the most influential man to ever walk the Earth. His Life has impacted nearly every part of human life for Christian and non-Christian alike. We have Holidays made in honor of Him that even non-believers observe. The very calendar that we mark our years by is based on His Life. B.C. being Before Christ and A.D. being Anno Domini which is Latin for
“In the year of our Lord”. So His Life has impacted the world in such a way that nearly every human on the planet has been affected by it.

But who was Jesus really? Was He just a man? Was He simply just a righteous prophet of God as the muslims say? Was He the first being created by God as the Jehovah’s Witnesses claim? Or Is He something more?

Looking back on Jesus Life we can see that before He was even born He was different, and His parents (His mother Mary and His adoptive earthly father Joseph) knew that there would be something special about Him. We are given accounts in Matthew 1 and Luke 1 of how angels came and visited Joseph and Mary to proclaim that Jesus birth would be coming and that it would be a supernatural conception of the Holy Spirit. Even before His Birth we see Jesus’ Heavenly origins and His Divine power as the angel tells Joseph in Matthew 1:21 that Jesus will “save his people from their sins” and then a few verses later Matthew tells us that Jesus is a fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy of one called Immanuel which means “God with us”. So Jesus was foretold to literally be “God with us” or God dwelling among us as in John 1:14.

Jesus as a young child was much different than any other child. While most children at the age of 12 would be out playing with their friends we are told in Luke 2 He was in the synagogue learning from the teachers there. And when His parents asked Him why He had stayed behind in the synagogue He replied that He must be about His Father’s Business. So even at a young age it was apparent that He was here to do the work of God.

At the beginning of Jesus Ministry we are told in Matthew 3:13-17 He went to John the Baptist to be baptized. This Baptism marked the beginning of His Earthly Ministry and it was here that all the world first saw who Jesus was. When Jesus was baptized the Spirit of God came down from heaven like a dove and shined light around Him, and the Father spoke saying “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Throughout Christ’s earthly ministry He did some amazing things and made some equally amazing claims that no mere man would be able to do or honestly claim.

John 8:57-59 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by/ In verse 58 of this chapter Jesus makes a very bold claim. He says “before Abraham was, I am.” And it is right after He makes this claim that the Jews took up stones to stone Him. The reason they took up stones was because they recognized the claim He was making. He was taking for Himself the Divine name I AM. It is the name that God told Moses in Exodus 3. So here Jesus was making the claim to be the I AM of the Old Testament. Here He was telling the Jews that He is God.

In John 10:30 Jesus tells the Jews “I and my Father are One.” Immediately after Him saying this they take up stones to stone Him. And in Verse 33 they explain why they are taking up stones when they say “For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” So here is another instance that the Jews recognized that Jesus was claiming that He Himself was in fact God.

Now anyone could go around making claims to be God. It’s one thing to make a claim, but it’s another thing to provide proof to back that Claim up and that’s just what Jesus did.

In John 2 we are told a story of how there was a wedding in Galilee that Jesus and His Disciples attended. During this wedding there was a problem however as the wine had ran out. So Jesus tells them to fill up their waterpots and then He proceeds to turn the water into wine. This is the first miracle of Jesus ministry and It’s very fitting as such as here we see Jesus displaying the Creative power of God. The first thing God is listed as doing in Scripture is Creating. And the First Miracle Jesus performs uses that same Creative Ability. He creates wine.

In John 6:5-13 we are given another account of Jesus using this same Creative Power. Here there was a great crowd of 5000 men who had gathered with Jesus after seeing His Miracles. We are told that this was the time that they had the Passover feast but the only food they had was 5 loaves of bread and 2 small fish that a young boy had brought. Jesus takes this food and distributes it out so that it is enough to feed all the people that had gathered. He used His Creative Power to make enough food for all the people there.

Jesus also displayed Power over sickness during His Earthly Ministry. We are given many examples in Scripture of Him healing such as : John 9:7 Jesus Heals a blind man , Mark 2 Jesus heals a paralyzed man, and in Mark 1 we see Him heal a man of leprosy.

Jesus even had the power to raise the dead back to life as we see with the story of Lazarus in John 11 and in Luke 7 and Mark 5.

Jesus had the power to forgive sins while on Earth as well as we see in Mark 2 where He not only heals the paralyzed man but also forgives Him of his sins and in Luke 23:43 where a condemned thief hangs on a cross next to Jesus and Jesus forgives Him and tells Him He will be in paradise with Jesus.

Jesus not only displayed power over the lives of others but over His own life as He Himself was raised from the dead. In John 10:17-18 Jesus claims to have power to lay His Life down and to take it up again. And this claim is proven true when He is raised from the dead after His Crucifixion.

So we can see from Jesus claims and from His Miracles that prove those claims that He was more than just a man. Jesus is the Word made flesh. He is God Almighty in the flesh. Fully God and yet fully a man. This is one of the hardest concepts for us to comprehend as humans because with our limited understanding this would seem impossible. It doesn’t seem logical to the human mind that Jesus could be both God and man. But it’s not important that we are able to fully comprehend God. After all He has told us in Isaiah 55:9 that His thoughts and ways are higher than our own. But what is important is that we accept by faith who Jesus is. It’s important that we accept that His Word says that He is God, He is the Word made flesh, the Creator of Life and Savior of His People. In 2 Corinthians 11 Paul talks of those who would preach “another Jesus” and in verse 13-15 He calls them false apostles, deceitful workers, and ministers of Satan. Even Jesus warned of false Christ’s who would rise up in the last days. And I believe this can include false religions or false beliefs in a false Christ. There are many cults in the world today that claim to believe in Jesus Christ yet the most important aspect of His Existence they deny. You have groups like Islam, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormon Church, and even Traditional Judaism among many others, all deny that Jesus is who He said He was : The Son of God, The I AM, One with the Father.

We need to realize that Jesus is Exactly Who He claimed to be. He is the Son of God. He is God in the flesh. And it is that Jesus that brings salvation to those who Trust in Him. It is not the Jesus of Islam, or the Jesus of Jehovah’s Witnesses, or the Jesus of the Mormon Church, none of the false Christ’s can bring salvation. Only the True Jesus, the Jesus of Scripture who is God almighty in the flesh can bring salvation to those who trust in Him.

So let us examine our own beliefs today and let us ask ourselves “ Do we really believe what the Bible teaches? Do we base our beliefs about Christ on our own understanding or do we accept by faith what the Bible says to be True?” and let us always turn to Scripture for answers on what to believe and let us always accept by faith that what it says is True. That Jesus is the Son of God, He did come to the earth as a man to be our Savior, but most importantly He is God Almighty in the flesh.

Jesus is God

There are alot of false religions out there, some even going under the disguise of Christianity. But the core of all systems of belief ,I believe anyway, is who they believe Jesus is. Some say He was only a good teacher, some say He was only a prophet, but the Bible says He was much more and here i want to share that the Bible shows who Jesus Truly is. Jesus Christ is The Lord God Almighty.

Attributes of God and Jesus
*note-in the Old Testament the word LORD is translated from JEHOVAH (a name for God) i have inserted the word Jehovah in some of these verses encased in brackets to show the original word.
1.Savior-
-God is the ONLY Savior
Isaiah 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD[JEHOVAH] ; AND BESIDE ME THERE IS NO SAVIOUR.(emphasis mine)
-Jesus is the Savior
John 4:42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
In this cross-reference of OT and NT verses we see that JEHOVAH is the ONLY saviour. He says BESIDE ME THERE IS NO SAVIOUR. Yet we see in the NT that Jesus IS OUR SAVIOUR. Jesus is Jehovah!

2.Creator
-God Created the universe BY HIMSELF
Isaiah 44:24 saith the LORD[JEHOVAH] , thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
-Jesus Created the universe
Hebrews 1:8,10 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom./And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
John1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Here we see that God created all “BY MYSELF” Isaiah 44:24. But we see that Jesus also Created all. Some cultists like Jehovah Witnesses and others will say that Jesus was created first and then God created everything else through Jesus. But this is not possible because in Isaiah 44:24 God makes it clear that He did it “BY MYSELF” not through a created being.

3. The Word-
-God is the Word
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

-Jesus is The Word
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Revelation 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
This is one of the most popular and obvious references of Jesus being God. Jesus is the Word. The Word is God. Jesus is God.

4. Redeemer-
-God is our Redeemer
Isaiah 47:4 As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.

-Jesus is our Redeemer/
Titus 2:13-14 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Here we see that JEHOVAH is the redeemer. Yet in Titus it says that Jesus is the one who redeems us. Jesus is Jehovah!

5. Glorified-
-God alone is worthy of Glory and will not give it to another.
Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD[JEHOVAH] : that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

-Jesus shares that Glory that God said He would not give to another-
John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
The only way Jesus could have something God will not give to another is if Jesus is in fact God. For we know that God does not lie. So God did not lie when He said “my glory will I not give to
another”. Yet Jesus shared that Glory. Jesus is Jehovah.

6. Receiver of worship.
-God is the ONLY One who should be worshipped.
Exodus 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Revelation 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

-Jesus openly receives worship.
Matthew 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
Matthew 14:33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Notice Jesus never rebukes anyone for worshipping Him. If He were not God He would recognize the command in the Law to worship no one but God and He would have quickly corrected those who worshipped Him. Had He been only a man and not also God in the flesh then this would mean Jesus would have sinned by allowing people to openly worship Him in disregard of the Law to worship God only. In other words if you don’t believe Jesus is God then you actually are believing Jesus is a sinner whether you realize it or not. We are commanded in the NT not to put a “stumbling block” in the way of our brothers
Romans 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
1 Corinthians 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
In the context of these verses stumbling block refers to causing someone else to sin. Therefore had Jesus not been God and allowed people to worship Him after God had commanded in Exodus to worship God alone then Jesus would have actually been sinning by causing others to sin in worshipping someone other than God. Yet we know according to the Word He did not sin at all
1 Peter 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
Jesus openly received this worship without rebuking anyone for it because Jesus is in fact God.

7. Gives salvation to those who call upon His Name

-This is attributed to God in the OT book of Joel.
Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD[JEHOVAH] shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD[JEHOVAH] hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD[JEHOVAH] shall call.

Paul attributes this to Jesus
Romans 10:9,13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Here we see a prophecy by Joel that there will be a time when “whosever shall call on the name of JEHOVAH shall be delivered” Paul quotes this in Romans 10:13. What name is Paul referring to? Jesus. Who does Joel say we must call on to be delivered? JEHOVAH. Jesus is Jehovah.

8. The First and The Last.

-God is the First and the Last
Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD[JEHOVAH] the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD[JEHOVAH] of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

-Jesus claims to be the First and the Last
Revelation 1:17-18 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Here we see that JEHOVAH is the First and the Last. We also see that Jesus makes the claim to be the First and the Last. If Jesus was created by JEHOVAH then Jesus could not be the First as JEHOVAH would have preceded Him. Jesus is JEHOVAH.

9.John the Baptist prepared His Way.
-Him that crieth in the wilderness prepared the way for God
Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD[JEHOVAH], make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

-John the Baptist was the one crying in the wilderness to prepare the way for Jesus/
John 1:23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
In Isaiah we see that “the voice of him that crieth in the wilderness” will Prepare the way for JEHOVAH and make straight a highway for our God. John the Baptist makes it clear that he is the voice crying in the wilderness. John the Baptist came to prepare the way for Jesus. Jesus is JEHOVAH.

10. There is one shepherd.
John 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

-God is that Shepherd.
Psalms 23:1 The LORD[JEHOVAH] is my shepherd; I shall not want.

-Jesus is the Shepherd.
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
According to Jesus there shall be one fold and one Shepherd. Psalm 23 says that JEHOVAH is that Shepherd. Yet in John Jesus claims to be the Shepherd. Jesus is JEHOVAH.

11. Gave His Life for us.

-God Gave His Life for us
1 John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

-Jesus Gave His Life for us
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus came to give His life for us as a sacrifice. In 1 John it says that God laid down His life for us. Jesus is God.

12.Raised Jesus from the dead.
-God raised Jesus/
Acts 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

-Jesus raised Himself from the dead
John 10:17-18 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
We all know that Jesus lived, died, and was raised from the dead. But who raised Him? According to Acts 4:10 God raised Him from the dead. But Jesus himself said He would raise up His body in three days in John 2:19. He also states in John 10:17-18 That He has the power to lay down His Life and to Take It again.

13.Good

-God alone is Good
Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

-Jesus calls Himself Good
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

A Few Other Verses Showing Christ as God.
Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word John 8:43/ Here we see Jesus telling the Jews they cannot hear his word/ He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. John 8:47/ just a few verses later we see Jesus saying that those words are GODS words. Yet Jesus is the one speaking the words. Jesus is God.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 1 Timothy 3:16/ This verse alone shows that God manifest Himself in the flesh through the Son Jesus. We see at the end of the verse that He was received up into glory. Jesus was the One who ascended up into glory. Yet here it says God was received up into glory. Jesus is God

But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Hebrews 1:8 / Here is a clear example of the Father calling the Son God. Some will say that this should be “little g” god. That Jesus was a “lesser god”.
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. Isaiah 43:10/ Here we see that this is not possible for there was no God formed before or after the LORD[Jehovah] (Note that the word for God here in the Hebrew is EL, the same name given to Jesus in Isaiah 9:6..therefore Jesus could not have been formed before or after JEHOVAH, Jesus must be eternally existant as JEHOVAH is, Jesus is JEHOVAH)

I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. John 10:30-33/Here we see that Jesus claims to be One with the Father. Some will try to say that this merely means One in purpose or will but not One in Unity of Being. But notice that the Jews here attempted to stone Him because they recognized this as His claim to be God. Jesus does not correct them and say He isn’t God. Why? Because Jesus is God!!

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Philippians 2:5-6/Here Paul tells us that Jesus is in the form of God and equal with God. Who can be equal with God? Only God.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:7 This verse alone should clear up any doubts about the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit being One. Interestingly enough some modern translations of the Bible have this verse taken out. This is because some Greek manuscripts do not contain this and some in fact do not contain the whole of 1 John. It is also interesting to note that there is evidence of this verse being quoted by Christian Authors (Tertullian) as early as 200 A.D. This is within around a century of the writing of this epistle.

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16 Here it is clear who laid down His life for us. God laid down His life for us.

And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. Acts 7:59 Here we see Stephen calling upon God. What does he say to God? He says LORD JESUS RECEIVE MY SPIRIT!!! Stephen calls God Jesus because he recognized that Jesus is GOD!!!

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 Here we see Jesus being called the mighty God. The word for God in the Hebrew here is El. Note that in Isaiah 43:10 the LORD says that there was no El formed before or after Him. This alone is enough to show that Jesus is eternal and is in fact the LORD GOD

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God. John 20:28 Here Thomas recognizes Jesus as his Lord and his God. Jesus does not rebuke him for this but actually confirms it in the next verse/Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John 20:29/ He tells Thomas he believed because he saw and says that those who have not seen and yet have believed are blessed. Jesus is confirming that Thomas saw Him and believes that He is his God.

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Colossians 2:9
Here is a clear description of Jesus “ the fullness of the Godhead bodily” or physically. Jesus is God manifest in the flesh, God the Son, Equal and One with God the Father.

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. John 14:7-11/ Here we see Jesus claim that “if ye had known me ye should have known my Father also” and “he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father”. He says that “I am in the Father, and the Father in me” Here it is obvious that not only is the Father in Jesus but notice also that Jesus is in the Father. We would assume of course that if Jesus was just a man that the Father could indwell Him as He indwells us when we believe. But there is no way that Jesus could be “in the Father” unless of course Jesus and the Father are One.

Why do we need Jesus?

Imagine a passenger on an international flight. The flight is going on rather well but all of a sudden a flight attendant approaches him and asks “Sir would you like a parachute?” to which the passenger replies” Of course not! My flight is going ok so far why would I need a parachute there doesn’t seem to be any trouble with the plane” The Stewardess replies,” Well sir if you would just try this parachute on I can assure you that your flight will be even better than it is now. The ride will be smoother, the people will like you more and it will just be an all around more enjoyable trip.” So the passenger says “sure why not?” So he tries on the parachute and the first thing He notices is the weight of it on his back. He notices he can’t sit quite as high in the seat as he did before. The next thing he notices is that most of the passengers around him do not have parachutes on and they start snickering and pointing at him ridiculing him for even considering needing a parachute. Then another stewardess walks by with a boiling pot of fresh coffee. She trips over another passengers leg and spills it all over the man’s lap. The man jumps up in pain and anger ripping the parachute from his back and throwing it on the floor and curses it and the stewardess who gave it to him.

Now consider a 2nd passenger on the same flight. A stewardess approaches him and asks “sir would you like a parachute?” to which He replies “of course not this flight is going rather well and the plane seems fine why would I want a parachute?” the stewardess says,” well sir at any minute now the plane is gonna fail and you will be forced to fall from 25,000 feet but if u have this parachute on it will save your life!” The man then says,” Of course I will take this parachute!.” So he puts on the parachute not even noticing the weight of it because all he can think about is how its gonna save his life. He notices passengers around him without one and offers them all a parachute to which some accept and some reject. When those who rejected begin to mock him he doesn’t care because he knows it will save his life. Later a stewardess walks by with a boiling pot of fresh coffee tripping over another passengers leg she spills it onto his lap. Does the man jump up and toss the parachute down cursing it? Of course not! He didn’t put the parachute on to make the flight better, he put it on to save his life so if anything he clings tighter to the parachute and looks forward to the jump that will deliver him from the hardships of the flight.

-Prosperity? : Some televangelists/preachers today preach a perverted gospel that some call Prosperity Gospel. They say that if you accept Christ and worship God you will become : Prosperous , Wealthy, Happy with life, and Healthy. They say that if u become a follower of God then when something comes along you want or when there is an issue you want changed you can “Name it and Claim it” and that you can direct the Holy Spirit to work for you in all things. What does the Bible say about this?

1 Timothy 6:3-10 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Scripture maintains that “the love of money is the root of all evil” and we should withdraw ourselves from people who suppose that financial and physical gain is godliness.

Ephesians 5:5-7 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
Here we see that no covetous man, who Paul here calls an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of God. What does prosperity gospel teach? Coveting after money and personal gain and using God to achieve such. According to Scripture, ones who follow such a teaching are idolaters and have NO inheritance in the kingdom of God.
Even Jesus warned against such teachings:
Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

The New testament warns of false teachers who will come:
2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Sounds like a warning against the very Prosperity teachers of today who make merchandise of people by fooling them into thinking if they send their money in to them that God will bless them because of it.

-Name it and claim it? What about using God to suit our needs? Ordering God to work for us? Prosperity preachers will say that anything you need be it healing, monetary gain etc you can simply “Name it and Claim it” and that since you are a child of God, God is obligated to fulfill your wish. But what does the bible say about this?
James 4:13-16 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. All things that we ask for should be according to the Lords Will not our own
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Asking in Jesus name is not just saying “in the name of Jesus” it’s asking according to His Will.
1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
Jesus said He will do what we ask “in my name” or according to His will. He even ordered us to ask God “….Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven”-Matthew 6:10…not “our will be done”.

-Wealth and Prosperity a result of being born again? These Prosperity Preachers say that once u
accept Jesus (and send in your monetary gifts of course) u will live a new life of happiness and wealth.

What does Jesus say is the road we travel once we become His disciple?

John15:19-20 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

There will even come a time where family will give each other over to be killed
Matthew 10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
We are to deny our own selfish desires and seek God and His Will.

1 Corinthians 4:11-13 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
Even Peter (who saw Christ in the flesh) and Paul who was visited by Christ in a vision were poor during their travels. But they didn’t blame God for it they endured it, because they already knew the road wouldn’t be easy. They didn’t follow Christ for personal gain they did it to bring Him Glory.

Why then do we need Christ why do we need salvation/being born again?
1. We all have sinned-
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Ever told a lie? Stolen anything? Used Gods name in vain? Looked with lust? Jesus says in Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
In doing just one of any of these you have broken Gods law and if you break part of the law you are guilty of all of the law
James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

2. We are all condemned to Hell because of that sin
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

3.We accept Christ for our salvation from Condemnation.
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Christ is our Savior from God’s Wrath. While we all deserve God’s Wrath, He loves us so much He provided a way for us to be saved from it
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The danger of this “Prosperity Gospel” is that it twists Scripture and changes God from being our savior to being someone to answer our every whim and to work for us. And it disillusions people who hear the message to believe that the Christian life is an easy life and makes them more likely to give up and blame God when trials do come. So let us remember that we do not use God for our physical gain and to store up treasures on Earth. And that even though we are children of God we still will face trials and temptations but God is sufficient to give us the strength to make it through them. We all need to accept Christ so that we might be reconciled
with God and saved from Wrath.

He is Lord

He is Lord of the Beginning, Lord of the End.
Alpha and Omega, the Forgiver of sin.
He is Lord of the heavens and Lord of the Earth.
He is Lord after His Death. Was Lord before His Birth.

He is Lord over Creation, all things great and small.
He is Lord God Almighty, Lord over All.
The One who gave His Life for you and for me.
The One who shed His Blood, on a hill called Calvary.

He is Author and Perfector, the Giver of Grace
The Glory of God is shown in His Face.
He came to the Earth while still remaining on High.
Still fully God, yet a man like you and I.

He descended from Heaven, and walked in the world,
So that all men would know, that He is the Lord.
There are those who accept, and those who reject.
He has promised our sins to forgive and forget.

All we must do is accept why He came.
To redeem us to Himself. In His Holy Name.
He told us in His Word, that all men have sins.
But if we accept His Gift, He would forgive us of them.

The time draws near when we will leave this ground.
We’ll meet Him in the air at that last trumpet sound.
And when that book is opened for that Heavenly roll call.
All will know, He is Lord of all.

For every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess,
That the Lord God Almighty, has defeated death.
He lived as a man, died as the same,
But rose as Lord, in Jesus name.

Now our time is short, men die everyday.
Will you accept His Gift? Our let your soul slip away?
Will u love this world, and lose your soul?
Or will u accept His Forgiveness, and be made eternally Whole.

For the righteousness of men is all in vain.
But true righteousness is found in Jesus name.
Whether u accept or reject, a choice u must make.
Your Lord to accept, or your Lord to forsake.

Either love this world, and the ways of men.
Or love the Lord and be forgiven of sin.
For strait is the gate, and He is the Way
That leads to a future, a brighter Day.

A day with no worries, no pain, no fear,
A day with no sickness, no hunger, no tears.
But broad is the gate, and wide is the path,
The leads to the pit that is full of God’s Wrath.

Whether u fulfill the Spirit, or your fleshly lust.
One thing is certain, Our Lord is Just.
He will punish the wicked, and His Children set free.
And if the Son sets you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Free from sin’s cold prison cell
Free from the second death, which is Hell.
For it is appointed for men once to die,
After that the judgement, by the Lord on High.

And when you stand before the Lord that day.
Will He say well done? Or will He send you away?
Choose ye this day if you’ll wield that spiritual Sword.
As for me and my house, we serve the Lord.

Chief of Sinners Though I Be

My crimes were despicable, Evil at best
A heart that was wicked, beat in my chest.
I had stolen, Killed, cheated and lied,
The worst of them all, chief of sinners was I.

I looked at the Judge as He called out my name.
Guilty as charged, hung my head in shame.
I knew what I’d done. Knew the price I must pay.
Knew I’d never again see the light of day.

As He ushered me in to my final defeat,
I heard the most beautiful voice, soft and sweet.
The voice said “Father! Don’t punish him please.
This one is mine. Don’t kill him. Kill Me.”

I stood in shock. Speechless from His Plea
He was going to take my place, chief of sinners though I be.
I asked Him a question. “Who are you? And Why?
Why would you rather me live and You die?”

He answered “My child, I will bear your pain.
Your sins will be forgiven, in Jesus name.”
“In Jesus name? Who is that? What’s it mean?”
He said “Dear boy, that Name is Me.”

“What can I do? To earn this gift you give?
The gift that I may not die, but live?”
“There is nothing you can do for the work is all Mine,
But repent of your sins, change your heart and mind.

Realize the error of your sinful life.
And put your faith in Me as the Ultimate Sacrifice
For I give my Life. Freely I Give.
I Die this day, so my children may Live.”

I watched in awe, speechless, at a loss,
As this Man before me climbed up on a cross.
He hung for hours, in agony, in pain.
He took my punishment, in Jesus name.

I watched as they lowered Him, placed Him in a tomb.
Thankful for the Love that saved me from eternal doom.
Tears filled my eyes as I wept for this Guy.
How He Loved me so! Though chief of sinners was I.

I wished at that moment I could see Him again.
Thank Him for the forgiveness, for the remission of sin.
Then something amazing happened that day.
A light shone around and the stone was rolled away.

I scarced believe the sight I did see.
“Am I really seeing this? Is it true? Could it be?”
This man whom I just saw die.
Was standing before me in plain sight!

I fell to my face and said “How can this be?
I just saw you slain! How can you be standing before Me?”
He said “My child, I am not just a man
This was not just coincidence, it was part of the Fathers plan

He sent me here, to die for you.
But I’m not alone for He is here too.
The father is in Me. And I am in He
We are One, The Father and Me”

I said thank you My God. For dying for me.
For forgiving my crimes, chief of sinners though I be.

Now from that day forward, my life’s One Aim
Is to share His Truth, in Jesus Name.
That He is the Way, The Truth and The Life.
That He has bore our pain our guilt and our strife.

We will be forgiven if we repent of our sins.
Recognize our evils. And change our hearts toward them.
And put Our Faith in the Man from Galilee.
Who died for my sins, chief of sinners though I be.

How Wondrous Are Thy Works, O God.

How wondrous are thy works, O God,
Who hung the stars so high.
Hands so mighty yet soft enough
To dry our teary eyes.

How oft I sit in awe ,O God
At the wonder of thy creation.
O King of kings and Lord of lords
Ruler of the nations.

From the lilies of the valley,
More wonderful than Solomon, dressed
To thy children of every nation
More than we deserve are blessed.

From the ocean depths so deep
To the mountain peaks so tall
Creation bears the witness
To the Glory you have above all.

How wondrous are thy works , O God
More majestic than we can know
How wondrous was that Work, O God
That made us white as snow.

How wondrous was the cross
Dreadful though it be.
How wondrous was the Life
You offered up for me.

How wondrous was the Price
You didn’t have to pay
How wondrous was the Love
That you so freely Gave.

How wondrous are thy works, O God
Wondrous every one
But the most wonderful work of all
Was the sacrifice of thy Son.

Jesus Died For Me

I don’t know what the future holds
Don’t know where this life will go
But I know, that Jesus died for me.

I don’t know what tomorrow brings
Don’t know the tune of the song I’ll sing
But I know, that Jesus died for me.

I don’t know what next year will be like
Don’t know how much longer the sun will shine
But I know, that Jesus died for me.

I know there once was a King
Who climbed up on a cross for me
Yes I know, that Jesus died for me.

I don’t know how He could have so much love
But I know He came down from above
Yes I know, that Jesus died for me.

In spite of the sin that I have known
In spite of the evil seeds I’ve sown
I know, that Jesus died for me.

He died for me upon that cross
For my soul He paid the cost.
My king, my Jesus died for me.
